Accessories for MiniCAM

Founding developer Daniel Aharoni

With the sweeping success of the Miniscope family, Daniel Aharoni continues to develop neuro-behavioral recording techniques for freely behaving animals from his UCLA lab. The UCLA miniscope community maintains a WiKi to help disseminate this open source technology to the larger neuroscience community.

The MiniCAM is a camera for imaging freely behaving animals in behavioral and neuroscience experiments. The MiniCAM is both powered and communicates over a single 50 ohm coaxial cable minimizing the cabling that needs to run into the experimental environment.

The MiniCAM requires a Miniscope V4 - Data Acquisition System (DAQ) (connected via the 50 ohm coaxial cable) and a host computer (connected over USB3) running the Miniscope Software (or any other third-party application that can stream UVC cameras and can communicate through a Miniscope DAQ).

KEY FEATURES

  • 5 Megapixel CMOS sensor
  • 50 frames per second as default
  • 1024 x 768 resolution as default
  • Higher frame rate possible at lower resolution; also, higher resolution possible at lower frame rate
  • The image sensor can be configured through the Miniscope software
  • LED illumination ring intensity can be controlled through the Miniscope software.
  • SMA coax connector for both power and data transfer
  • Compatible with our Miniscope V4 - Data Acquisition System (DAQ)

CONTENTS

  • MiniCAM PCB in 3D printed housing with M12 lens mount
  • LED ring PCB
  • 1.5m, 50 ohm coaxial cable with SMA/SMA connectors

Lens Not Included

The M12 Lens is not included. We recommend the Arducam M12 Lens set that includes a range of M12 lenses for different view angles.
