Founding developers Open Acoustic Devices, Arribada Initiative, and Ruby Hill

The AudioMoth, Hydromoth, and MicroMoth were created by the Open Acoustic Devices team that includes Andrew Hill and Peter Prince, together with Alex Rogers, a computer science professor at the University of Oxford. The AudioMoth was the first product of their initiative.

The MicroMoth, in particular, was created in partnership with ZSL (Zoological Society of London) and the Arribada Initiative, with PCB layout support provided by Ruby Hill.

The MicroMoth is a compact and efficient audio recorder designed for ecological and environmental research, where small size, lightweight design, and low power consumption are essential. As the latest addition to the AudioMoth family, the MicroMoth retains the high-quality sound recording capabilities of its predecessors while being significantly smaller and more energy-efficient. The MicroMoth offers high-fidelity audio recording, making it an ideal tool for wildlife monitoring, biodiversity assessments, and other acoustic studies in remote or challenging environments.
