The AudioMoth, Hydromoth and MicroMoth were created by two computer science PhD students at the University of Southampton, Andrew Hill and Peter Prince, together with Alex Rogers, a computer science professor at the University of Oxford. The AudioMoth was the first product of their OpenAcousticDevices initiative.

The AudioMoth USB Microphone Case is a protective enclosure designed specifically for the AudioMoth USB Microphone. It provides a secure housing solution for the device during field and portable applications while maintaining access to essential device functions and acoustic input.
