The AudioMoth, Hydromoth and MicroMoth were created by two computer science PhD students at the University of Southampton, Andrew Hill and Peter Prince, together with Alex Rogers, a computer science professor at the University of Oxford. The AudioMoth was the first product of their OpenAcousticDevices initiative.

The AudioMoth Dev Case is a robust, waterproof, injection-moulded enclosure designed specifically for the AudioMoth Dev. Built for maximum flexibility, it features integrated mounts and expansion slots that support external microphones, GPS modules, large batteries, and custom auxiliary boards—making it ideal for advanced and long-term field deployments. 

KEY FEATURES

  • Injection-moulded enclosure, sealed using dual clasps and compression O-ring
  • Waterproof rating: IPX7 (up to 1 metre submersion for 1 hour)
  • Dimensions: 100 × 140 × 65 mm
  • Waterproof GAW334 acoustic vent to protect the microphone
  • Slot for AudioMoth GPS Board and additional custom 26 × 24 mm auxiliary board
  • M16 cable gland opening with replaceable cap
  • Includes D-cell battery holder and connecting cable
  • Two removable, adjustable Velcro straps for easy mounting on 3–6 cm diameter branches or poles
