Thomas Akam is a neuroscientist at the Oxford University Department of Experimental Psychology. He is the lead developer on the @pyControl and @pyPhotometry open source projects. Their development began while working at the Champalimaud Neuroscience Program. pyControl is used by labs in institutions around the world for controlling behavioral experiments in neuroscience and psychology.

pyControl - Breakout Board

Part of the pyControl behavioural experimental system

The pyControl Breakout Board forms the core of each pyControl hardware setup. It interfaces a pyboard microcontroller with a set of 6 behaviour ports, 4 BNC connectors, indicator LEDs and user pushbuttons. Many setups, each with their own breakout board, can be controlled from a single computer via USB.

pyControl peripherals used to construct the behavioural setup connect to the breakout boards behaviour ports.

!!! Electrical safety !!!

When connecting devices to breakout boards it is important to consider the amount of current they will draw. More info
